Michael D. Sechrest, Esq.

Mr. Sechrest practices in the areas of business law and civil litigation with an emphasis on construction law.  He has also handled a variety of other cases and trials including medical malpractice and casualty cases.  He has spent most of his career representing engineers, architects, owners, contractors, subcontractors, material suppliers, lenders and sureties in various litigation and matters involving issues such as lien and bond claims, design and construction defects, differing site conditions, delay, scheduling, and acceleration claims. Mr. Sechrest is Board Certified in Construction Law in the State of Florida.  He acquired his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida in 1995 where he graduated with honors in a dual major program.  He graduated from the University of Florida College of Law in 1998 and he has since been a guest lecturer at the University of Florida College of Law and Rinker College of Building Construction.  He has significant experience with arbitrations, trials and appeals in a variety of forums. Mr. Sechrest has handled several multimillion dollar claims. He also handles OSHA proceedings, bid protests and federal and bankruptcy claims involving construction.  Mr. Sechrest is a member of the Florida Bar Construction Law Committee, United States District Court — Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Florida, US Court of Federal Claims, as well as various residential and commercial building associations.
